BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Strato III, circa 10 AD. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 2.14 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in Jammu-Akhnoor. Diademed and draped bust of the young Strato III to right; around, somewhat blundered legend in Greek. Rev. Maharajasa tratarasa Stratasa ('of Great King Strato the Savior' in Kharoshthi) Athena Alkidemos advancing left, holding shield in her left hand and hurling thunderbolt with right hand. Bopearachchi 1 var. (attributed to Strato II and with differing monogram). HGC 12, 492 var. (differing monogram). Very rare. Somewhat rough and with a scratch on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.


Strato III was the last Indo-Greek king, ruling a small kingdom near Jammu.
